Dr Jillian Zitny, Doctor of Physiotherapy (USA), gained an interest in physiotherapy early in life.  She injured both her shoulders playing varsity water polo and swimming competition butterfly and by the beginning of Year 11, she was unable to swim competitively. She was able to recover, however, via a course of intensive physiotherapy treatment.

Having been exposed to the benefits of treatment, Jillian volunteered at physio clinics throughout Years 11 and 12.  She studied at California State University San Marcos and received her Bachelor degree in Kinesiology (Pre-Physiotherapy) while gaining valuable experience at various physiotherapy clinics.  She studied here at Victoria University for her last year of this degree, and worked with football teams under a previous trainer of the Western Bulldogs AFL club.  After graduating, she fast tracked her Doctorate of Physiotherapy degree at University of St. Augustine of Health Sciences in California, graduating in 2013.

During her doctorate degree Jillian specialised in manual therapy, then completed extra manual therapy certifications in the following: Spine 1 (S1), Advanced Lumbar and Thoracic Spine (S2), Advanced Evaluation and Manipulation of the Cranio-Facial Cervical and Upper Thoracic Spine (S3), Functional Analysis and Management of the Lumbo-Pelvic-Hip complex (S4), Extremity Integration 1 & 2, Myofascial Manipulation, LSVT BIG (Parkinson's Disease), and Advanced Training Specialist (ATS).

Jillian has been working as a physio in the field since 2009.  She has experience in manual therapy, out-patient orthopaedics, dance injuries, swimming injuries, exercise therapy, geriatrics, paediatrics, and hydrotherapy.  She is registered with the Australian Health Practitioners Regulation Agency (AHPRA), a full member of the Australian Physiotherapy Association (APA), American Physical Therapy Association (APTA), and Oregon Physical Therapy Association (OPTA).

When Jillian is not working, she enjoys outdoor activities such as biking, hiking, swimming, and snowboarding.  She also enjoys yoga, dancing, playing guitar, quilting/crocheting, and travelling.
