Dr Gerard Keown

Chiropractor

Wednesday 9am - 7pm, Friday 2pm - 6pm, Saturday 8am - 12pm

Gerry started practice in 1997 as a Remedial Massage Therapist and went on to lecture and tutor Myotherapy. In 2003 he completed his Bachelor of Health Science as a Naturopath and practiced for a number of years while also lecturing anatomy and physiology at university.
He moved to Sydney with his wife and completed a Masters Degree in Chiropractic at Macquarie University in 2010, after which he joined a multidisciplinary clinic in Drummoyne, working as part of an integrated team treating high profile athletes on the Australian Swimming Team, many of whom went on to win gold medals in the Olympics.

Gerry has had research published in the peer-reviewed, indexed literature on neck pain and headaches. He is a member of The Education and Advancement Committee of Chiropractic Australia, and is also the co-editor of the Chiropractic Australia Journal Club, screening and curating the latest research that is important for Chiropractors. He also writes the assessment modules for the Global Education Network for Chiropractors (GEN-C) which is a partnership between Chiropractic Australia, the European Academy of Chiropractic, and the Royal College of Chiropractors.

He has a special interest in headaches and migraines, neck pain, vestibular disorders (that cause dizziness and vertigo), temporomandibular disorders (that cause TMJ pain and dysfunction), and gastrointestinal and sleep disorders. He has the rare combination of qualifications and experience as a Chiropractor and Naturopath which enable him to combine Chiropractic treatments alongside natural medicine, incorporating rehabilitation exercises, and nutritional and natural medicine prescriptions to improve your treatment results and health.

When not in clinic he divides his time between cycling, high intensity interval running and resistance training with writing two books: the first is aimed at healthcare professionals on the neurophysiology of sleep, and the second is for people who suffer migraines, breaking down complex science to make it understandable, and incorporates evidence-based self-help strategies.

Gerry is passionate about getting results for people, and is proud to work with the skilled team at Brunswick Chiropractic.
